Introduction
The German Academic
Exchange Service (DAAD) annually offers fellowships (research and
sandwich-model) to the Government of India for Indian nationals. These

opportunity to carry out research in Germany, and to familiarize
themselves with current methods of research there.
Prerequisites for
fellowships under the Sandwich Model scheme
The Sandwich Model is a
multi-phased fellowship scheme which allows scholars who are registered
for their PhD at an Indian university / institute to carry out research
for their thesis alternately in India and in Germany under the
supervision of an Indian as well as a German guide according to a
schedule previously drafted out in consultation with them.
-
Candidates should not
be more than 36 years of age on 1st October of the year in which the

another 12 months, upon application, and are preceded by a four months
German Language course at a Goethe Institute in Germany.
