General Instructions :

(i) All questions are compulsory.
(ii) Marks for each question are indicated against it.
(iii) Question number 1 to 8 are very short-answer questions each of 1 mark. Answer them in about one sentence each.
(iv) Question number 9 to 18 are short-answer questions of 2 marks. Answer them in not more than 30 words each.
(v) Question number 19 to 27 are short-answer questions of 3 marks. Answer them in not more than 50 words each.
(vi) Question number 28 to 30 are long-answer questions of 5 marks each. Answer to these questions should be around 150 words each.
(vii) Use Log Tables, if necessary.

Q7) Why are microwaves used in RADAR.  (Marks 1)

Q9) What is self-induction? State any two factors on which the self inductance of a long solenoid depends.  (Marks 2)

Q10) Light from a distant galaxy having wavelength 6000 Ao is found to be shifted toward red by 60 Ao . Calculate the velocity of recession of the galaxy.  (Marks 2)

Q12) Draw a labelled ray diagram to show the image of an object in a compound microscope.  (Marks 2)

Q16) Briefly describe the method to determine the surface temp of sun.  (Marks 2)

Q21) Describe an experiment to show that light waves are transverse in nature.  (Marks 3)

Q22) Find the position of an object which when places in front of a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm produces a real image twice the size of the object.  (Marks 3)

Q25) Draw a labelled diagram of a Daniel cell. Write down the chemical reaction taking place at anode and the cathode.  (Marks 3)
