With the exception of production posts special qualifications are not absolutely necessary for gaining entry into this field. Training is generally acquired on the job, through hands-on experience. Due to the increasing competitiveness of a larger employment market, however, some candidates prefer to enroll in a related professional course before venturing into publishing, in an attempt to improve their prospects.
Training Institutions
Various universities and private institutions offer post-graduate courses in publishing. As these courses have not been standardized, it is advisable to find out more about them before enrolling. Some publishing houses also sponsor short-term courses, though these are usually structured for professionals with some experience in the field.
Eligibility
Most courses in publishing are post-graduate courses, which require a basic degree in any discipline.
