FUTURE PROJECTIONS
Travel and tourism, as an industry, has been somewhat slower to take off in India than in many other places. However, with increasing worldwide interest in travel, and with the Government's encouragement of its activities, it is likely to undergo a massive expansion and improvement in the coming years. Industry leaders foresee travel and tourism as one of the most important activities of the twenty-first century.
In terms of employment, the industry already has the capacity to absorb between 20,000 and 28,000 trained personnel in its various activities outside the area of hospitality. The number is likely to grow in proportion to expansion plans. This forecasts a bright future for all those who choose to make a career of travel and tourism.
