Sales work is at different levels. These are:
REPRESENTATIVES
Actually go out into the field to make contact with and service customers.
FIELD SALES SUPERVISORS
Ensure that their assigned group of sales representatives, or `reps' carry out their specified tasks and meet their targets within the fixed time frame. They also deal with day-to-day problems that occur in the field.
AREA SALES MANAGERS
Often posted at the branch office, are responsible for fixing and meeting targets within a demarcated area that could be a section of a city or a whole town. They are accountable to:
Regional Sales Managers
Who are in charge of the sales coverage of a number of towns, cities or areas. Sales Managers /Directors: Are usually posted at the head office, and are responsible for planning and directing the
company's wholesale operation. At every level, in almost any type of organization, sales involve a great deal of fieldwork and travel.
