Remuneration

The remuneration in the footwear industry starts from Rs 3,500 for supervisors and designers, and Rs 6,500 for managers. 

However, with students from the FDDI, the pay scales vary from Rs 5,500 to Rs 7,500 for supervisors and designers and Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000 for managers. The starting salaries for candidates with an MFT from the FDDI have also been known to be as high as Rs 6,500 per month. 

For managerial posts, those with an MFT are usually appointed as Assistant Managers, and within a period of five years, dedicated professionals can rise to the position of Senior Managers earning Rs 20,000 per month, along with perks. 

For candidates from institutes such as the CLRI (Madras), the CFTC (Madras), and the HBTI (Kanpur), the remuneration is very high. Candidates with PG degrees in footwear technology are appointed as Assistant Managers and their pay scales vary from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 per month. 

Candidates with a diploma in footwear technology are usually appointed as Technical Officers and their salaries vary from Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000 per month. For designers, the salaries are between Rs 6,000 and Rs 7,500 per month. 

Dedicated professionals in the industry can easily earn upto Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000, after promotions.

PRESSURES

The profession involves a lot of hard work, as target deadlines have to be met despite problems such as power breakdowns, which hinder work, as in most other factories. Quality control is also extremely important.

There are a lot of monetary benefits in the industry as well as a lot of acclaim. India is especially suitable for the industry, because of easy availability of raw material, and cheap labor.
