Except in the large commercial printing organizations, wage paid employment is comparatively lower than in other areas. Freelance and self-employment, can however be very well paying for those with a good business sense.

Promotions in private commercial printing presses are generally merit based. The normal government rules are applicable for jobs in the public sector presses.
