Remuneration

The starting salary in most government departments is Rs. 5,000 per month (inclusive of all allowances). The starting salary scale in the Anthropological Survey of India is Rs. 2,200 per month (exclusive of all allowances).

PRESSURES

The profession involves long hours of fieldwork and travel to remote areas for purposes of excavations. Moreover, patience and perseverance is demanded from anthropologists as results from studies conducted may take time to evolve.

The completion of a research project and the successful conclusion of a hypothesis would give an anthropologist a great sense of satisfaction and achievement.
