Physiotherapists, like all other medical and paramedical professionals, can work in hospitals and also engage in private practice. Their demand in medical institutions is increasing since physiotherapy plays an important role in the treatment of patients with muscular and cerebral problems.
Various government-aided hospitals and dispensaries employ physiotherapists on a large scale, and they work in coordination with specialized medical practitioners. Not only do they work in the orthopedics and rehabilitation departments, but they are also increasingly employed in the neurology, dermatology, pediatric, cardio-thoracic and even the prenatal and antenatal care departments where remuneration is comparatively low.
