Training
At present only two colleges, both located in Tamil Nadu, offer facilities for studies in the siddha system of medicine.
Eligibility
For Graduate Studies: SSLC, with the condition of passing the PUC Part III Advanced Tamil paper in the entrance examination. BA and B.Sc. students are also eligible to apply. Candidates seeking admission to graduate courses should have completed 15 years and six months by 15 July of the year of application.
Postgraduate Studies
Conditions of eligibility are a BSM&S degree, or successful completion of the Bachelor of Indian Medicine Degree Course examination conducted by Madurai University, or a four-year degree in Siddha Maruthuvam conducted by a state or Central government recognized institution, plus a minimum six-month hospital internship.
Duration of Training
The training period for siddha practitioners is as follow:
BSM&S, Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery-five and half years, including a six-month internship period.

Academic Programme
The siddha degree course includes studies in Thotrakirama & Vczrulu, basic science and history; Uyir Vethiyal/Vediyal biochemistry; Maruthuvam Thavarayiyal, medical botany; Udal Koorugal, anatomy; Udal Thczthuvam, physiology; Gutiapadam Thathu, pharmaceuticals; Noinadal, pathology; Nanju Nool, toxicology; Noi Kuyhadham, paediatrics; Sool Muruthuvam, gynecology; Aruvai Maruthuvam, Surgery; and other subjects.
MD (Siddha) covers elements of modern medicine as well as recent methods and advances in modern medicine in order to keep students abreast of current developments in medicine. It does not, however, entitle them to practice modern medicine.
The main objective of the MD (Siddha) is the acquisition of advanced knowledge in its particular areas. Its aim is to turn out competent scientists and scholars for universities and other research, scientific, and teaching institutions concerned with indigenous systems of medicine.
The postgraduate course offers specialization in areas such as applied anatomy and physiology, materia medica and the vegetable kingdom, metals, minerals, general medicine, gynecology and pediatrics.
