Remuneration in the government sector is fixed for various scales. According to the new scales, the remuneration at the initial level is approximately in the range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per month plus allowances.

Private practitioners can earn a lot more. On an average they charge Rs 200 per hour for counseling. Surgical procedures, as in other medical fields, are much more expensive.
